🧬 DNA Crafter Alpha 1.0 — Dev Log

Welcome to the first Alpha release of DNA Crafter!
This is a reboot of an older project, rebuilt from scratch with a cleaner UI, better systems, and long-term progression in mind. Expect bugs, placeholders, and polish passes in future builds!

βœ… What’s Implemented in Alpha 1.0:

βš™οΈ Core Gameplay

  • Human DNA creation system: DNA is produced every few seconds and stored.

  • Manual sell system: Choose how many DNA to sell (x1, x10, x25, x50, x100, All).

  • Sell price upgrade: Increases the value of each DNA sold.

  • DNA Creation Time upgrade: Reduces the time between DNA generation.

  • Storage upgrade: Increases DNA storage capacity (up to 2500 in Alpha).

  • Caps and level logic: All upgrades are capped and follow increasing costs.

  • Autosell (locked): Feature Not Yet implemented 

πŸ”’ Progression & Scaling

  • Upgrade costs scale dynamically based on level and importance (Storage > Time > Sell Price).

  • Balanced scaling for all 3 core upgrades.

  • UI updates based on current stats, level, and cost.

πŸ’Ύ Save & Load System

  • 3 save slots + autosave every 45 seconds if no slot is selected.

  • Manual Save/Load with visual feedback using icon animations.

  • Bug fix for persistent global variable conflict on web build.

  • Fully working local save system using C2’s native save/load functions.

πŸ› Reporting & Feedback

  • In-game Bug Report and Feedback buttons:

    • Sends players to external Google Forms for direct reporting and feedback.

  • Buttons styled and placed clearly in top-left corner for visibility.

πŸ’‘ UI/UX

  • Completely redesigned visual interface:

    • Styled green terminal aesthetic.

    • Responsive upgrade buttons with locks and animated transitions.

  • Sin wave hover effect on save icon.

  • Manual save icon changes color (grey ➝ green) on click for feedback.

  • Current save slot shown visually by icon highlight.

  • Exported to both HTML5 (itch.io) and Windows executable (NW.js).

  • Icons created and added to executable version.

πŸ§ͺ Known Issues / In Progress

  • Evolution system is visible but not yet implemented.

  • Hard reset button planned but not functional yet.

  • Some polish and animation passes still to come.

  • No tutorial or onboarding—players are expected to explore and experiment.
